What is physics in simple words?

Physics is the scientific study of physical phenomena such as the movement of matter, energy and force. It helps us to understand the world around us. Physics is the most fundamental part of science. Physics, the science that deals with the structure of matter and the interactions between the fundamental components of the observable universe.

In the broadest sense, physics (from the Greek physikos) deals with all aspects of nature, both at the macroscopic and submicroscopic levels. His field of study covers not only the behavior of objects under the action of certain forces, but also the nature and origin of gravitational, electromagnetic and nuclear force fields. Its ultimate objective is the formulation of some comprehensive principles that bring together and explain all these disparate phenomena. The definition of physics is the study of the physical plane of matter, motion, force and energy.

The root of the word physics is Phys- and in Greek it means nature and natural order. Physics itself studies the natural world and the interactions between objects and energy in a given environment. Physics is the science that aims to describe the fundamental aspects of our universe. This includes what things it contains, what properties of those things are noticeable, and what processes those things or their properties undergo.

In simpler terms, physics attempts to describe the basic mechanisms that make our universe behave the way it does. For example, consider a smartphone (Figure 1,. Physics describes how electrical current interacts with the various circuits inside the device. This knowledge helps engineers to select the right materials and circuit design when building the smartphone.

Physics describes the relationship between the speed of an object, the distance it travels and the time it takes to travel that distance. When you use a GPS device in a vehicle, use these physical relationships to determine the travel time from one place to another. For example, physics can help you understand why you shouldn't put metal in the microwave (Figure 1), why a black radiator helps remove heat from a car engine, and why a white roof helps keep the interior of the house cool. In architecture, physics is essential to determine the structural stability, acoustics, heating, lighting and cooling of buildings.

Physics covers a large number of topics: fluids, heat, light, sound, forces, electricity and magnetism, just to name a few. By studying the most important topics in physics, you will acquire analytical skills that will allow you to apply physics far beyond the scope of what can be included in a single book. There are also fields such as biophysics, physical chemistry, geophysics and astrophysics, which help to close the gaps between other natural sciences and the foundations of physics. Relate the definition of classical physics to the use of the word classic in a context that is probably more familiar to students, such as classic movies.

Physics is considered to be the most fundamental science because it provides a foundation for all other sciences. Of course, this is just a short list, and there are also many interdisciplinary branches of physics. The word “physics” comes from the Greek “knowledge of nature” and, in general, the field aims to analyze and understand the natural phenomena of the universe. The second reason is that classical physics still provides an accurate description of the universe in a wide range of everyday circumstances.

However, physics plays an important role in all natural sciences, and all of these fields have branches in which special emphasis is placed on physical laws and measures, with names such as astrophysics, geophysics, biophysics and even psychophysics...
